  One day, a man brought plenty of meat and fishes to give to the millionaire, the master of the chef. The chef, then, hung them somewhere inside the kitchen.
" Chef,today a friend of your master brought a lot of fishes
and meat for him. "
" Oh!..... Good."
" I plan to cook some special dishes for him tomorrow. "
" Serb!... The smell of that meat is so mouth-watering
indeed.I must find away to eat it tomorrow. "

  The crow had a strong desire to eat the meat. So...The next morning, the crow feigned being ill of stomachage
so that he could stay in that day." My friend,I'm afraid I can't go out today with you as usual
because I have got a terrible stomachage. "
" I know well that,by nature, you are the kind of bird that
never suffered such stomach pang beacause you are hungryall the times. "
" You are thinking of eating the meat in the kitchen,right?
you should better not do it.They are food for humam being.What you should do is to go out witn me. "" I'm not lying.I'm really ill.Uu......h!!!! "
"If you let yourself being tyrannized by greed in this
manner, you will soon face the unfortunate consequences."   After saying so, the pigeon flew out for food alone on that day.When seeing the pigeon left the kitchen, the crow started looking for the opportunity to sneak into the kitchen.
" Chur! that stupid Pigeon dare lecture me. "
" Oh!...the smell of that fermented meat is so inviting. " 
  As for the chef, he started preparing various kinds of food from those fishes and meat. Some was made by streaming process, others by fermentation. He then put the soup pot on fire and covered all the ingredients with lid and tray.
" Ready.It is so hot in here."
" Let put this colander cover up all the mixed ingredients to
protect the flies."
" Let go out of here to get some fresh air outside for a
while " 
  The crow seized the chance flying out from the basket to hide itself near the colander. Unfortunately, one of its wings hit the top of the colander by accident. ‘KraK’ The hitting sound provoked the chef to be skeptical. He quickly got back into the kitchen.
" Ha!...Ha!...Ha!... it's just about the right time for me. "
"(Noise with a bang.) Ah!.... It's too bad."
" What sound is it. " 
  Upon seeing the crow’s burglarious behaviour, the chef became very furious. The irate chef rushed closing all the windows and the door to catch the crow.
" Err...."
" Alas!..You,ungradeful crow,dare steal the meat.I have fermented for the master. "
" You scoundrel crow,I will catch and ferment you."
" Where can you flee the scene " 
  In the evening, the pigeon came back. Upon seeing the plucked crow lay breathing very weakly with fatal pain, the pigeon knew that the crow was about to die.The chef finally caught the crow and plucked its entire feather. He then rub salt, powdered ginger and ghee all over its skin and threw the poor crow back into the basket.
" Ah!....."
" Urr.....Urr...... "
" oh!.. Crow.You had difinitely stolen the meat fromthe kitchen.And was caught red-hand,right?Then this is what
had happened to you. "" You have been suffering gravely in pain like this because of your nature of oscillation but let yourself be dictated by
greed "
  Then, the pigeon uttered an adage that….....
" The one who ignores the well-wisher's useful advices and the true friend's valuable suggestions will meet destruction and tragedy in the same manner as the Crow that didn't follow the Pigeon's instruction falling into the hand of
enemy " 
  The pigeon then thought to himself that after this incident, he could no longer feel safe of staying in the area of the kitchen because the crow had made the chef feeling distrusted. Danger could come to him any time. Therefore, he decided to look for the new place to live. As for the crow, it was left laying death inside the basket.

นกพิราบกับอีกาเจ้าเล่ห์ 

                        Nk phirāb kạb xīkā cêālèh̄̒


 อยู่มาวันหนึ่ง มีคนนำปลาและเนื้อจำนวนมาก มาฝากท่านเศรษฐี พ่อครัวจึงนำมา แขวนไว้ในโรงครัว
" พ่อครัว วันนี้เพื่อนของท่านเศรษฐี นำปลาและเนื้อมาฝากเยอะแยะเลย "
" โอ้ ดีจริงๆ พรุ่งนี้ข้าจะได้ปรุงอาหารที่พิเศษให้แก่นายท่าน "
" เอื๊อก.....กลิ่นเนื้อนี่มันช่างหอมหวลเหลือเกิน พรุ่งนี้ข้าต้องหาทางกินเนื้อพวกนั้นให้ได้ "
  กาได้กลิ่นเนื้อก็อยากกิน วันรุ่งขึ้นจึงทำอุบายตามที่คิดเอาไว้กาแกล้งทำเป็นปวดท้องบินไม่ไหว เพื่อที่จะได้แอบไปกินอาหารที่พ่อครัว เตรียมไว้ให้ท่านเศรษฐี
" เพื่อนเอ๋ย.. วันนี้เห็นทีข้าจะบินไปกับเจ้าไม่ได้ ข้าปวดท้องจนบินไม่ไหวแล้ว แคร้ก...แคร้ก..."
" เจ้ากาเอ๋ย ข้ารู้หรอกนะว่ากาเช่นเจ้า จะไม่มีโรคปวดท้องเพราะกาจะหิวตลอดเวลา เจ้าคงอยากจะกินปลาและเนื้อในครัวล่ะสิ อย่าเลยนะมันเป็นอาหารของมนุษย์เขา เราอกไปหากินด้วยกันเถอะ "
" เราปวดท้องจริงๆนะท่าน ข้าไม่ได้โกหกจริงๆ  อูย......"
" ถ้าเจ้ายังเห็นแก่ความอยาก ต่อไปเจ้าจะต้องได้รับกรรมตามสนองแน่ๆ ค่อยดูสิ "
 ว่าแล้วนกพิราบก็บินร่อนออกไปหากินตามลำพังเมื่อกาเห็นนกพิราบบินไปแล้วก็จดจ้องคอยหาโอกาสแอบเข้าไปในครัว
" เชอะ เจ้านกพิราบทำเป็นอวดดีมาสั่งสอนข้า โอ้ กลิ่นเนื้อหมักนี่ช่างยั่วน้ำลายข้าเหลือเกิน "
 ฝ่ายพ่อครัวได้ลงมือประกอบอาหาร หลายชนิดด้วยปลาและเนื้อที่ได้มา เมื่อเสร็จจึงใส่หม้อนึ่งตั้งไฟไว้บ้าง หมักไว้บ้าง โดยเอาฝาปิดแง้มๆ ไว้ พอให้อากาศถ่ายเทได้
" เสร็จซะที ว่าแต่วันนี้ข้างในนี้มันร้อนจังเลย เอากระชอนปิดเนื้อหมักกันแมลงไว้ก่อนดีกว่า แล้วเราออกไปรับลมเย็นๆข้างนอกสักพักดีกว่า "
" ฮี่ๆ.... โอกาสดีๆมาถึงข้าแล้ว "
 กาเห็นเป็นโอกาสเหมาะจึงลงจากกระเช้า ไปแอบอยู่ใกล้ๆกระชอน แต่เคราะห์ร้าย ปีกไปกระทบถูกกระชอน เสียงดัง “ แกร็ก ” พ่อครัวได้ยิน จึงกลับเข้ามาดู
" อ๊ะ!.............."
" เสียงอะไรกัน "
" แย่แล้วเรา.....บรื๊อ....."
" ชิชะ เจ้ากาเนรคุณคิดจะมาขโมยกินเนื้อที่ข้าหมักไว้ เพื่อทำอาหารให้ท่านเศรษฐีรึ ดีละ ข้าจะจับเจ้าหมักดูบ้าง ดูซิว่าเนื้ออวบๆของเจ้ามันจะน่ากินบ้างไหม "
" เจ้าจะหนีไปไหน "
พ่อครัวโมโหสุดขีดจึงปิดประตูปิดหน้าต่างเพื่อต้อนจับกา จากนั้นจับกาถอนขนจนหมด เอาขิงสด เกลือป่น เนยเปรี้ยวคลุกแล้วทาที่ตัวกาแล้วโยนกลับลงกระเช้าของมัน

 ครั้นตกเย็นเมื่อนกพิราบกลับมาจากหากิน เห็นกาไม่มีขนตัวเกลี้ยงเป็นมันนอนหายใจรวยริน ด้วยความเจ็บปวดแสนสาหัส และกำลังจะขาดใจตาย
" อ๊ะ!.... "
" ฮือ....ฮือ....ฮือ.... "
"กาเอ๋ย นี่เพราะเจ้าไปขโมยกินเนื้อในครัว แล้วถูกพ่อครัวจับได้ละสิเจ้าถึงมีสภาพน่าอนาถเช่นนี้ "
" ที่เจ้าได้รับความทุกข์ใหญ่หลวงเช่นนี้ก็เพราะนิสัยที่โลเลของเจ้าทำดีไม่ได้ตลอด เอาความโลภเป็นที่ตั้งไม่เชื่อฟังเรา "
ว่าแล้วนกพิราบจึงกล่าวสอนเป็นสุภาษิตว่า............
" ผู้ใดบุคคลกล่าวสอนอยู่ ไม่ทำตามคำสอนของผู้ปรารถนประโยชน์ เกื้อกูลแล้วไซร้ ผู้นั้นย่อมถึงความชิบหายเศร้าโศกเหมือนกับอีกาที่ไม่เชื่อฟังคำสั่งสอนของนกพิราบ จึงตกอยู่ในเงื้อมมือของพ่อครัวปานฉะนี้เอง "

 ครั้นแล้วนกพิราบคิดว่า ตนคงอยู่ที่โรงครัวต่อไปอีกไม่ได้ เพราะกาทำให้เขาไม่ไว้วางใจเสียแล้ว อันตรายอาจมาถึงตัวเมื่อไรก็ได้ จึงบินไปหาที่อยู่ใหม่ ส่วนกานอนตายอยู่ในกระเช้านั้นเอง

In the former time, the city of Benares had a tradition of hanging the grass-made basket in the area of the residence for birds to build its nest.A pigeon lived in the basket hanging in front of a kitchen. It flew out finding for food in the morning and came back to sleep in the evening. One day, a crow flew pass the kitchen, it smelt the aroma of freshly made food wafting through the air.
" Hey! What suck a dilecious smell it is! "" Ah! That mouth-watering smell really comes from this
kitchen "
The crow felt like to taste the food made from the kitchen. It fluttered down to stand on a branch of a tree, thinking of a ploy to enter the kitchen and eat the food.
" How can I get the chance to taste those tooth some
foods? "
Then seeing the pigeon living in the basket hung at the front side of the kitchen, the crow got an idea.  It immediately schemed to use the pigeon to pave its way.
" I have got it.I will have that Pigeon help me to get inside"
The next morning when the pigeon flew out for food, the crow went after it.
" Let set out for food. "
After flying for a while, the pigeon sensed that a crow has been going after him. The pigeon,so, turned to ask the crow the reason of following along.
" Ah! Why have you been tailing me? "
" I'm just impressed with your grace manner and feel like
the serve you,if you don't mind. "
The pigeon felt suspicious about the crow’s response so he questioned the crow further.  But the crow had all the ready answers.
" You and I are different. You are carnivorous type,you eat
meat and blood for food.I'm an herbivore.we can't leave in
the same lifestyle "
"You're right.But,eating different kinds of food eanable us
to live together well because we will never scramble for
the same food.We can leave our nest at danw together,then
we go separate ways to make a living.In the evening,we
meet and return home together again. "
Hearing the crow insisting so, the pigeon didn’t further argue. However, the pigeon could not help feeling dubious about the crow’s proposal. He, therefore, instructed the crow that…
" If you come to stay with me,you must not steal the food
from the kitchen for yourself to eat because it will cause
both of us in trouble. "
" Oh! Don't worry.I will never do such a thing "
" If so,let go on serarate way searching for food and we
will meet again somewhere nearby the kitchen in the evening "
" Alright. "
That evening, the crow returned to the meeting point a bit earlier than the pigeon. He, then, pretended remonstrating about the pigeon’s late coming." You should not have wondered off to far and get back
late "
Then the pigeon flew directly into the kitchen followed by the crow. The chef, seeing the crow coming with the pigeon, thought the crow could be trusted and welcomed; so he hung another basket for the new comer.
" Ah!.... Oh! this crow is a friend of your, right? "
" Good!... I will find you one more basket. "
From that day onward, both the pigeon and the crow went out together in the morning and came back in the evening every day.

ในอดีตกาล ณ กรุงพาราณสี ชาวเมืองนิยมแขวนกระเช้าหญ้าไว้ในที่ต่าง ๆเพื่อให้เป็นที่อาศัยของนกทั้งหลาย นกพิราบตัวหนึ่งได้อาศัยอยู่ในกระเช้าหญ้าใต้หลังคาบ้านของชายผู้หนึ่ง ทุกเช้าก็บินออกไปหากิน ตกเย็นก็บินกลับมานอนในกระเช้าอย่างเป็นสุข วันหนึ่งมีอีกาตัวหนึ่งบินผ่านโรงครัว จึงได้กลิ่นหอมอันตลบอบอวลของอาหาร
" เอ๊ะ! กลิ่นอะไรหอมจัง "
" กลิ่นเนื้อจากโรงครัวนี่เอง "
อีกาเกิดอยากลิ้มลองรสอาหารนั้น จึงบินมาเกาะอยู่บนกิ่งไม้ใกล้ๆ แล้วคิดหากลอุบายต่างๆ เพื่อที่จะได้เข้าไป กินอาหารในโรงครัวนั้น
" ทำอย่างไรดีนะ ถึงจะได้กินอาหารรสเลิศพวกนี้ "
กามองเห็นนกพิราบซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ในกระเช้าหญ้าหน้าโรงครัวนั้น จึงคิดจะใช้นกพิราบเป็นสื่อนำเข้าไปในครัว
" ได้การละ เราจะใช้เจ้านกพิราบนี่แหละ เป็นสื่อนำเราเข้าไป
ในครัว หึ...หึ....หึ.... "
ครั้นพอถึงเช้าวันรุ่งขึ้น เมื่อนกพิราบบินออกไปหาอาหาร กาก็บินตามนกพิราบไป
" ออกไปหาอาหารกินดีกว่า "
เมื่อนกพิราบ บินไปได้สักพักหนึ่ง ก็รู้สึกว่ามีกาบินตามมา จึงถามกาถึงเหตุที่บินตามมา
" เอ๊ะ! เจ้ามาคอยบินตามหน้าตามหลังเราทำไม? "
" ข้าถูกใจในกิริยาท่าทางของท่านจึงอยากจะอยู่รับใช้ใกล้ๆจ้ะ "
นกพิราบรู้สึกผิดปกติ จึงถามกากลับไป แต่กาก็ใช้ปฏิภาณไหวพริบ ตอบข้อสงสัยของนกพิราบในทันที
" เจ้ากับข้ากินอาหารต่างกัน เจ้ากินอาหารที่มีเลือดเนื้อ ส่วนเรากินแต่เมล็ดพืช เราทั้งสองจะไปด้วยกันได้อย่างไร "
" ก็กินอาหารไม่เหมือนกันนะซิ ถึงไปด้วยกันได้ จะได้ไม่แย่งกันกิน
เช้ามืด ข้าจะบินไปพร้อมกับท่าน แล้วต่างแยกกันไปหากิน ถึงตอนเย็น ก็บินกลับรังพร้อมพร้อมกันไงล่ะ "
เมื่อกายืนยันเช่นนั้น นกพิราบก็ไม่ว่าอะไร แต่ยังไงก็ยังไม่ไว้ใจนิสัยของพวกกาจึงเตือนว่า....
"ถ้าเจ้าอยู่กับเราล่ะก็ อย่าไปลักอาหารในครัวมากินล่ะ เดี๋ยวจะพากันเดือดร้อนไปหมด "
"โอ๊ย! ไม่ต้องเป็นห่วงข้าไม่ทำอย่างนั้นเด็ดขาด "
" ถ้าอย่างนั้นเราแยกกันไปหาอาหาร เสร็จแล้วค่อยมาเจอกันใต้ชายคาโรงครัวนะ "
" ตกลงจ้ะ "
เมื่อถึงเวลาเย็น กานั้นกลับมาถึงก่อน แล้วทำทีเป็นต่อว่านกพิราบที่กลับไม่ตรงเวลา
" ท่านไม่ควรเถลไถล หากินจนค่ำมืดเกินเวลาเช่นนี้นะ "จากนั้นนกพิราบบินเข้าไปในครัวโดยมีกาบินตามไป พ่อครัวเห็นว่ากาเป็นเพื่อนกับนกพิราบก็ไว้ใจ จึงหากระเช้ามาแขวนให้กาอีกกระเช้าหนึ่ง
" อ๊ะ!.. โอ้! กาตัวนี้เป็นเพื่อนของเจ้ารึเจ้านกพิราบ ดีจริง งั้นเดี๋ยวข้าจะหากระเช้าให้อีกาอีกใบล่ะกันนะ "
นับแต่นั้นมา ทั้งกาและนกพิราบก็บินไป หากินตอนเช้า แล้วกลับรังตอนเย็นพร้อ กันทุกวันเสมอ
